At yaas, our values come from a family spirit. We combine traditional heritage, a strong work ethic, responsibility, and closeness through the relationships that bring this project to life. Itto, for example, has become like a grandmother figure, full of advice and thoughtful gestures. She reminds me of my own grandmother, who passed down her love for weaving and inspired me to protect this ancient craft.
To make this project possible, we rely on your support, our clients. That’s why transparency is so important to us. At YAAS, you can learn about every product from the origin of the materials to their quality, so you can make informed choices.
We work with women’s cooperatives because we believe in gender equality. Many women’s talents go unseen, and their work often doesn’t allow them to earn a fair living. By showcasing their rugs, we help give their work the recognition it deserves.
As an interior designer, aesthetics are very important to me. The rugs created by these artisans are often graphic and minimalist, like Beni Ouarain rugs, but they can also be colorful and sometimes asymmetrical, like Azilal rugs, showing their creativity and freedom of expression.
Every rug tells a story. It’s not just decoration. The artisans put a piece of themselves into each creation, using Berber symbols that carry meaning from their regions and tribes. This is their way of sharing their talent, preserving ancestral Berber craftsmanship, and keeping their traditional way of life alive. Working directly with cooperatives ensures that every rug stays authentic and meaningful.
