Caring for your wool rug

Wool Rug Care Tips

A rug is made to be lived on! Don’t hesitate to shake it out and move it around regularly. Above all, avoid leaving objects on it for months without moving them: air needs to circulate, and the wool needs to breathe.

Vacuum regularly

Vacuum your rug once a week. Remember to occasionally move your coffee table or other furniture. Insects that feed on natural fibers love dark, undisturbed spots, so prevention is better than cure.

In case of stains

  • Act quickly, just as you would with a wool sweater.
  • Use lukewarm water mixed with a little vinegar or natural soap.
  • Gently rub by hand to avoid damaging the fibers.

Water and your rug

Wool tolerates water very well, as long as the rug is dried immediately outdoors, preferably in the sun. Otherwise, stagnant moisture can damage the fibers.

Deep cleaning

We recommend a full cleaning every 2–3 years, or whenever your rug seems to have lost its freshness. In that case, contact us: we work with wool rug cleaning specialists to bring your piece back to its full glory.
