How yaas is born ?

yaas is a project born from a love of design and a desire to support berber weavers, giving visibility to the incredible pieces they create. The idea came from noticing how difficult it can be for berber artisans to find their place in a globalized and industrialized market. For us, yaas has become a way to build a project that is both socially responsible and culturally meaningful, based on fair and human relationships.

During my travels in the Berber mountains of the Atlas, I met some truly remarkable people. One of them was the venerable Itto, president of a women’s weaving cooperative in a village in the Middle Atlas. Her determination, courage, and deep commitment to making traditional weaving a source of dignified income for herself and other women in her village left a lasting impression on me.

From this encounter grew a shared desire to collaborate through fair trade, creating a form of craftsmanship that respects nature and the environment, using local and natural materials like sheep’s wool and plant-based dyes.
